Through our advocacy efforts, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation is committed to improving the quality of lives of those living with spinal cord injuries and other debilitating illnesses.
Florida Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week was started to educate the public on ways they can prevent spinal cord injuries from happening to them. Initiated by the Darrell Gwynn Foundation in 2006, the goal of this week is to decrease the number of spinal cord injuries by providing facts, statistics, and prevention tips to individuals across the state of Florida.
Our online Community Forum was started as a way for individuals personally affected by spinal cord injuries or other illnesses, a means to exchange information, offer support, vent frustrations and cause legislative change.
The Darrell Gwynn Foundation Speaker’s Bureau was established to spread the message of spinal cord injury prevention and awareness by educating individuals, particularly teenagers. The Speakers Bureau is made up of individuals across Florida living with spinal cord injuries who volunteer their time to speak at local high schools in their communities throughout the year.
