Levi Lamb loves to fish, enjoys hunting excursions and, according to his mother, “spends virtually every day outdoors.” A member of 4-H and Future Farmers of America (FFA), Levi raises hogs and steers for show and dreams of getting a driver’s license after his 17th birthday.
Just your typical teenager – except that Levi was born with spina bifida and is paralyzed from the waist down. About the only thing slowing him down is a wheelchair badly in need of repair.
“Levi’s wheelchair has been tightened and adjusted, and tightened and adjusted until it can’t be adjusted anymore,” mom Kelly Clemons said. “He’s so active he just wore it out!”
But, that’s about to change. On Aug. 14, The Darrell Gwynn Foundation will present Levi with a brand new, custom-fitted camouflage wheelchair to replace his worn-out one. Levi will receive his chair from Darrell and the Foundation during Bass Pro Shops’ 2010 Fall Hunting Classic at the Dania Beach store.
Whether by “adopting” recipients like Levi or through their ongoing gifts, generous individuals enable the Foundation to continue its mission to Provide Awareness, Prevention, Support and Ultimately a Cure for Paralysis. Be a hero to Levi and others like him by contributing to our Wheelchair Donation Program.
