Committee assembles network of top professionals to boost the foundation’s fundraising efforts and opportunities

CIMG0351DAVIE, Fla. – The Darrell Gwynn Foundation has formed a general fundraising committee of top professionals in South Florida designed to boost the foundation’s fundraising efforts and enhance the exposure and opportunities for fundraising in the community. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s mission is to provide SUPPORT for people with paralysis and PREVENT spinal cord injuries.

The committee has been assembled identifying top professionals that are actively involved in the community through charitable work, are experts in a professional area that can provide guidance or pro bono service to the foundation and are well established and prominent leaders in the community with networks of opportunities within their profession.

“We’re really excited to assemble a committee with professionals of such stature,” said Dr. Lisa Gwynn, co-founder and board member of the Darrell Gwynn Foundation. “There are always areas where we can use expert advice to improve our fundraising and there are many opportunities for us to make an even bigger impact in the community if we have leaders advocating for us and positioning us for success.”

The goal of the fundraising committee is to utilize the committee’s professional acumen to improve current fundraising initiatives while also utilizing the network of community relationships to discover new avenues for fundraising.

“In this committee model we are not asking this committee collectively or the individuals on the committee to be involved in the day-to-day business of the foundation or to take on aggressive time-consuming projects for us,” said Gwynn. “But we are hoping they can be advocates for the foundation within their professional networks and new opportunities will arise.”

Inaugural Members of the DGF Fundraising Committee are:

Curtis Gray                    Motorsports Executive (Chairman)

Cindy Kurtz                   Marketing Placement Group

The foundation operates an Education & Prevention Program directed to high school students to educate them on the dangers of risky behavior that can lead to spinal cord injuries. This rapidly growing program reaches over 10,000 students annually at over 50 high schools. In an effort to create more awareness about spinal cord injuries, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation successfully lobbied for and established a National Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Month and Spinal Cord Injury Awareness Week in Florida.
