On Aug. 14, The Darrell Gwynn Foundation presented Okeechobee teen Levi Lamb with a brand new, custom-fitted camouflage wheelchair to replace his worn-out one. Levi received his chair from Darrell and the Foundation in front of 150 attendees of Bass Pro Shops’ 2010 Fall Hunting Classic at the Dania Beach store.
“With my new chair, I am able to get around easier and do things I couldn’t before,” Levi said. An avid outdoorsman despite the spina bifida that paralyzes him from the waist down, he also received a $500 gift card from Bass Pro Shops.

Following the wheelchair ceremony, Levi surprised Darrell by presenting him with a special plaque and trophy to recognize how Darrell and the Foundation had touched his life. “I’m honored,” Darrell said as he accepted the gifts.
“Levi is the sort of person we enjoy helping, because he refuses to let his situation deter him from doing what he enjoys. He’s a model for all of us to emulate,” he added.
The Foundation’s wheelchair donation to Levi was featured on NBC 6′s Saturday night news broadcasts and will be spotlighted in an upcoming Miami Herald article.
