EVENTS


Each year the Darrell Gwynn Foundation takes part in many events across the country. Our signature fishing tournament "Hot Rods and Reels" takes place twice a year at the Homestead-Miami Speedway and Daytona International Speedway. We are also pleased to participate in all four Barrett-Jackson Classic Car Auctions that take place in Scottsdale, West Palm Beach, Las Vegas and Orange County. In addition to these, our Wheelchair Donation Program events take place at many venues across the country all year long.


January 20, 2012 Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale
Location: Westworld of Scottsdale, Scottsdale, Ariz.
Event: The Darrell Gwynn Foundation will auction the now momentous electric dragsters that Don Garlits and Darrell Gwynn raced in the “Garlits vs. Gwynn: Match Races for a Cause” charity series in 2011 during the NHRA’s 60th Anniversary Celebration at Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale. The electric dragsters were custom built for the series which brought two NHRA legends back to the racetrack and marked the first time in 21 years since his racing accident that Darrell Gwynn raced competitively. Proceeds from the auction of these cars at Barrett-Jackson will benefit the Darrell Gwynn Foundation and Don Garlits Museum of Drag Racing, Inc.

February 24, 2012 Hot Rods & Reels – Daytona
Location: Lake Lloyd at Daytona International Speedway, Daytona Beach, Fla.

March 11, 2012 Track Walk For Those Who Can’t
Location: Gainesville Raceway, Gainesville, Fla.
Event: Participate in a walk down the historic Gainesville Raceway during the NHRA Gatornationals to support people living with paralysis and prevent spinal cord injuries. Fans can meet and mingle with top NHRA Drivers and witness the magic of a wheelchair donation.

April 3, 2012 Wheels of Dreams
Location: Cars of Dreams Museum, North Palm Beach, Fla.
