September 22nd, 2013

Wheelchair donation underwritten by Pitch Energy and Gray Motorsports

Wheelchair PresentationENNIS, Texas – The Darrell Gwynn Foundation, on behalf of Pitch Energy and supporters Johnny & Terry Gray and Terry Chandler, donated a $20,000 custom power wheelchair to 9 year-old Kyson Brannon of Euless, Texas at the NHRA AAA Fall Nationals at the Texas Motorplex on Sunday, September 22. The Darrell Gwynn Foundation’s mission is to provide SUPPORT for people with paralysis and PREVENT spinal cord injuries.

Kyson is diagnosed with cerebral palsy and was unable to propel his current manual wheelchair. Medicaid denied his claim for a new power wheelchair. A loving and outgoing child who loves computers and outdoors, the new power wheelchair will give Kyson the gift of mobility he deserves and allow him to remain in school, better interact with his classmates and develop his communication skills. Today’s wheelchair donation was made to honor the Gray family’s father, the late John R. Gray. Kyson received a Dallas Mavericks themed wheelchair after his favorite team.

Founded by NHRA Hall of Famer Darrell Gwynn and his wife Lisa, the Darrell Gwynn Foundation operates a national Wheelchair Donation Program which donates custom power wheelchairs to individuals facing medical ad financial hardships. NHRA Driver Johnny Gray and his family pledged to donate four wheelchairs this NHRA season to children in need in four communities the NHRA holds races. This is the third of those four donations today in the Dallas area.
