Sure, he’s a heartthrob and the star of a hit TV show, but Patrick Dempsey’s also a skilled racecar driver. And The Darrell Gwynn Foundation will be auctioning the hot, #156 2005 Ford Mustang FRC500 that Patrick drove in the Grand-Am KONI Challenge Series! It will be a great partner to the $1 million Coors tribute dragster at the Las Vegas Barrett-Jackson Collector Car Auction on September 24.
The Patrick Dempsey Mustang being auctioned for The Darrell Gwynn Foundation was generously donated by longtime supporter and friend Vince Amato to help us Provide Awareness, Prevention, Support and Ultimately a Cure for Paralysis.
The race car is powered by a 5.0 liter Cammer R50 engine and is equipped with a 6-speed transmission. Patrick raced it to a sixth-place finish at Homestead-Miami Speedway in 2007 and drove it at Barber Motorsports Park among the six races in which he competed that year. In Grand-Am competition, the Mustang FR500C claimed four victories along with the 2005 team, driver and manufacturer’s championships in its inaugural season. .
There could be an “up close and personal” Dempsey experience when this car goes up for sale. Check back here to see if Patrick will join us on-stage at Barrett-Jackson as we auction off his Mustang!
